You can format hyperlinks in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Outlook. This article explains how to format hyperlinks in Outlook. The advantage of formatting hyperlinks is that you can provide a different text that hides the actual link. Here’s how it looks:

A hyperlink without formatting:

The same hyperlink, formatted:

Manually Inserting a Hyperlink

To manually insert a hyperlink in Microsoft Outlook, first click the “Link” button. You can find this on the ribbon under the “Insert” tab in the “Links” group.

A screen will open for inserting a hyperlink. Type the text you want to display in the “Text to display” field. Then, enter the link in the “Address” field. Finally, click “OK.” The hyperlink with the custom text will now be inserted into the body of your email.

In the examples above, a hyperlink points to a website. You can also create hyperlinks to other locations within the document. This is useful in a long newsletter where headings are listed at the top. By clicking the link, the reader is taken to the appropriate section in the document, enhancing usability for the reader.

It is also possible to create a hyperlink to an email address. You can pre-fill the subject line so that it automatically appears in the subject field. Additionally, you can link to a specific position within a website.
